Community blood drives in Buncombe County

Press release

From Red Cross:

Only 3% of the Population Donates Blood Products – Will You?

About 38 percent of the population is eligible to donate blood; however, only three percent actually do. The American Red Cross is encouraging individuals to join those who have stepped up to help save lives by donating blood or platelets.

“While only about three percent of the population donates blood, many of us will need blood at some point in our lifetime,” said Sharon Pitt, chief executive officer, Carolinas Blood Services Region. “The Red Cross relies on volunteer donors to meet the needs of patients who depend on transfusions. It is important that our donors realize the impact they have on the lives of so many.”
