ContinuuCon 2019 calls for presentations

Press release from ContinuuCon:

ContinuuCon 2019, the fourth annual international Haken Audio Continuum conference, will take place on May 30–June 1, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Asheville Department of Music. The conference’s organizers are issuing a Call for Presentations to anyone interested in presenting a program, staging a workshop, or giving a demonstration directly related to the Haken Continuum Fingerboard.

Scheduled presenters this year include Lippold Haken, inventor of the Continuum Fingerboard and ContinuuMini; Edmund Eagan, developer of the Continuum’s onboard synthesis engine, the EaganMatrix; and Roger Linn, inventor of the first digital drum machine (the LM-1 Drum Computer), the Akai MPC60, and other popular music gear.

If you have an interesting idea for a presentation, please submit an informal proposal to continuucon@gmail.com as quickly as you can. Presentations should be 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length. Although we have not set a fixed deadline for applications, time and space are limited, and we can no longer accept applications once the available slots have been assigned. You will be notified whether your proposal has been accepted at that time.

Submitting a proposal will give you the opportunity to share your ideas, experiences, and insights with conference attendees. Being selected will promote your status in the musical community and contribute to the Continuum’s advancement. The organizers will judge your proposal based on the relevance, quality, and focus of your material, and whether your presentation is educational or practical in nature. Note that sales presentations will not be accepted.

Tickets are now on sale at continuucon.com. Ticketholders may attend an opening night reception, two days of conference proceedings, and a Saturday night concert. A ticket for the entire event will cost $250, but we encourage early registration with a discounted price of $175 if you register by April 30. You can also register to attend a single day for $125.

About the Haken Continuum Fingerboard and ContinuuMini
Designed by Dr. Lippold Haken and manufactured by Haken Audio, the Continuum is an electronic musical instrument allowing unprecedented real-time expressivity. With a greater pitch range than a traditional 88-note MIDI keyboard, the Continuum Fingerboard offers continuous multidimensional performance control for every finger. Last year’s KickStarter campaign for its more portable and affordable sibling, the ContinuuMini, exceeded expectations several times over. The ContinuuMini is now shipping worldwide to musicians who are new and old to the Continuum experience. Inside both instruments is the EaganMatrix, a cutting-edge user-programmable digital modular synthesizer that takes full advantage of the playing surface’s subtle to dramatic performance possibilities.
