“Buncombe Forward is pleased to announce it has formally endorsed Candidate Christina Kelley G. Merrill – This year will be an important election for Buncombe County voters. The current county commission has led Buncombe County into an untenable situation through years of financial mismanagement. County spending and debt have soared, while private property rights have been continuously eroded. The next commission will have very serious fiscal challenges to address. Consequently, Buncombe Forward has chosen to endorse and actively support Christina Kelley G. Merrill we believe to be the most capable and resolute in dealing with the county’s serious fiscal challenges in the years ahead. We have full faith and confidence this Candidate will have the character and resolve to see Buncombe County through these difficult times.”

As a parent and small business owner she is genuinely concerned about the residents of our county and its future sustainability. Christina is motivated to seek out fiscally responsible solutions to difficult problems and will not “rubber stamp” away our children’s future.”

Christina Kelley G. Merrill has lived in Buncombe County for nearly 20 years She is a Small Business owner and Parent. She is running as an Advocate for Small Business and New Industry and as a Proponent of our hard working Mountain families.”

Christina Kelley G. Merrill – I am very honored to have received these endorsements and I am passionate about helping to turn our County away from the mindset of “Spend more, Tax more, Restrict more”. We can not sustain the abundant spending of or our Tax dollars and watch our County go into over 400 Million dollars in debt, debt that will be passed on to our children. I have raised my children in our County schools, I know what it’s like to struggle, I am in touch with our Community and have a solid history of helping to grow our local Businesses. As a Marketing executive, I have also helped to raise thousands of dollars for local Charities such as, The March of Dimes, Make A Wish of WNC and The Friends of NRA. As Volunteer Commissioner and Coach for WNC youth sports, I am on the Ball Fields with our families and understand that the recession has pushed our County into poverty faster than the national average. Under the watch of our current Commission many ordinances, referendums and restrictions are hindering rather than helping and have been passed that do not reflect the interest of a large portion of our County Residents. We can not cave to the squeaky wheel and must listen to our entire County and truly represent all of our Citizens. We have not had a Conservative Female Republican elected to the Board of Commission since the late 1960’s – it is time to change that -Vote on May 8th – Christina Kelley G. Merrill, your VOICE on the Commission.
