DIAMOND BRAND ANNOUNCES SUPPORT OF FRIENDS OF THE WNC NATURE CENTER’S MOUNTAIN SAFARI BENEFIT EVENT

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – This spring, Diamond Brand Outdoors is proud to lend its support to Friends of the WNC Nature Center as they invite the community to join them for “Mountain Safari” – a wild social adventure. On Thursday, May 31, 2012, from 6-9 p.m., the Nature Center will open its doors for an evening soiree guaranteed to delight even the most festive of partygoers, all in the name of furthering the mission of the WNC Nature Center.

“Diamond Brand is proud to support the Nature Center and we’re excited about all the exciting new plans being made,” said Sarah Merrell, Marketing Manager – Diamond Brand Outdoors. “We are once again happy to sponsor the Mountain Safari event, in particular. This is a wonderful event that supports an organization whose survival is vital to the quality of life in WNC. The organization is near and dear to my heart since as a child I made many visits to the Nature Center to learn about wildlife and see the animals enjoying their natural habitats. I’m now proud to serve on their board of directors and on the Task Force for the Mountain Safari event, as I look forward to giving back to an organization that added so much joy to my childhood.”

Attendees of the “Mountain Safari” will be treated to an array of entertainment, from multiple live music acts including bluegrass artist Rob Russell, Sunshine and the Bad Things and headliner Aaron Woody Wood to enchanting Bhangra dancers Christine Garvin and Diana McCall, plus exciting special close encounters of the animal kind with the cougars, owls, otters, wolves and more! In addition, delicious food generously donated by Azalea Café, Chili’s, Fig Bistro, The Marketplace, and Ultimate Ice Cream will satisfy partygoers’ taste buds. To wash down the delectable bites, Asheville Brewing Company is generously providing beer and, to commemorate the Center’s “Year of the Red Wolf,” attendees are encouraged to come early for a limited release bottle of Rufus Red Ale!

The Friends Executive Director Kimberly Brewster shared, “This year’s event is going to be wilder than the last! I am looking forward to the fun evening full of great entertainment and adventure as we party with (and for) the animals.”

During the benefit, the Friends will also treat their guests to a silent auction and raffle, to help raise funds for projects at the WNC Nature Center. Highlighting the auction will be one-of-a-kind paintings and paw prints of the Center’s animals, fun outdoor packages from sponsors like Diamond Brand Outdoors and special tours of the Center. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best safari gear, and those that do will be entered into a special raffle. Thank you to all our sponsors including Forest Commercial Bank, Greenhands Healing Center and Dr. Steven L. Cahan and Living Social! Tickets for the event are available to members of the Nature Center for $40 and to non-members for $45 by advance sale and $50 at the door.
