Doctor joins Mission Community Primary Care—Highlands

Mission Health is pleased to announce the addition of Patti Wheeler, MD. Dr. Wheeler is joining Mission Medical Associates and Mission Community Primary Care – Highlands, a service provided by Highlands-Cashiers Hospital from Highlands Medical Associates in Highlands, where she served as a family medicine physician.

“It is our pleasure to welcome Dr. Wheeler to the group of fine providers at Highlands-Cashiers Hospital,” said Jackie Ring, President and Chief Nursing Officer, Highlands-Cashiers Hospital.  “Dr. Wheeler understands fully the great necessity to provide the best care to every patient and is known for her endless patient dedication.”

Dr. Wheeler earned her medical degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill.  She completed her residency in family medicine training with Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville. Dr. Wheeler is board certified in family medicine.  She has also served as a hospice and home visit physician.  Dr. Wheeler enjoys outdoor activities such as water sports, gardening, cooking and reading.

“I am both appreciative and excited to be transitioning my private primary care practice to Highlands-Cashiers Hospital,” said Dr. Wheeler. “I understand the importance of establishing strong relationships with each of my patients and communicating clearly with them about both their health concerns and needs.  As a longtime member of this community, I am pleased to be staying in the area and transitioning my service to now be incorporated in the Mission Health system.”
