Enka High School employee tests positive for COVID-19

Press release from Buncombe County Schools:

A message was sent to Enka High School staff this morning regarding this matter. The body of that message is below:

We have been notified that one of our employees has been diagnosed with coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 on Saturday, August 15th. As such, employees working within close proximity of this employee may have been exposed. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Contact tracing began immediately with the assistance of the employee. We currently have two other employees who are showing no symptoms of coronavirus but are currently in self quarantine for 14 days per the CDC guidelines.

The three classrooms along with the work area of these three employees were thoroughly cleaned and sanitized following the established CDC protocol on Saturday by staff and myself in preparation for Monday morning.

BCS is taking measures to ensure the safety of our employees during this coronavirus outbreak. Please continue to practice the 3 W’s.

Buncombe County Schools will keep all medical information confidential and will only disclose it on a need-to-know basis.
