Fisher leading local roundtable discussion on Romney’s budget

Here’s the press release from the North Carolina Democratic Party:

State Rep. Susan Fisher to Discuss Why Mitt Romney is the Wrong Choice for Seniors

Area seniors will join legislator to discuss the effects the Romney budget will have on seniors

Asheville, NC—State Rep. Susan Fisher (D-114th District) will host a roundtable discussion Monday about the effects the Romney-Ryan budget will have on area seniors.

Mitt Romney is the wrong choice for North Carolina seniors. Romney has fully backed the Ryan budget plan, which would end Medicare as we know it. Under Romney’s plan, seniors would pay thousands more a year for health care and prescription drugs—all at a time when budgets are already strained. Romney also proposes raising the Social Security retirement age and reducing benefits for future retirees.

In contrast, since taking office President Obama has been working every day to improve seniors’ health care, strengthen Social Security and other programs, protect seniors from abusive financial practices, and ensure that every American can live a dignified retirement.
