Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation donates $2,000 to Evergreen Community Charter School

Evergreen Community Charter School has received $2,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed local neighbors in their time of need. Evergreen will use the gift to help meet the nutritional needs of students and families.

“Robin’s Nest is a living symbol of compassion at Evergreen,” said Kelly Stephenson, Student Services and Data Manager. “In fall 2020, food pantry visitors grew in volume, and donations rose to meet increased needs of families. This beautifully demonstrated the value of community in action. We are grateful to Food Lion for helping us feed our community!”

Food Lion’s donation will nourish Evergreen’s food pantry, Robin’s Nest. Created last fall in partnership with MANNA FoodBank and with the work of parent volunteers, Robin’s Nest houses frozen meats, pastas, breads, eggs, fresh and canned fruit and veggies, baking supplies, condiments, crackers, and even some chocolate. In doing so, the school ensures no student, regardless of reason, goes without.
