Amy Cantrell ,in my opinion, is one of the finest citizens in Asheville and her work with the homeless here has been beneficial to many US military homeless Veterans and many others. I just returned from the protests in Charlottesville and I am in shock over the murder of Heather Heyer, the 16 others that were hit by the same car and the hate spewed by Jason Kessler and the large number of hardcore brownshirt type Nazis that attended his rally. I urge the City to drop the charges in exchange for community service which will be easy for Amy to do since she has already been doing it for years.

If community service is so “easy to do”, it is not punishment, and she SHOULD BE PUNISHED. Her admirable service to veterans and the homeless does not justify criminal vandalism that costs ALL taxpayers to repair.

I would have no problem with a public campaign to encourage civic leaders to remove the confederate Robert E. Lee plaque from the Vance monument area, but it should be done LEGALLY.
