Taller de Podcast bilingüe y gratuito para la comunidad latina en Asheville
El taller de podcast se llama “Nuestras Voces” y será dictado por los periodistas y productores de podcasts Patricia Serrano y David Seth Miller. Se realizará el 1 y 2 de octubre en Asheville, Carolina del Norte. Está dirigido a todas las personas que quieran aprender cómo contar historias en audio en sus propias voces.
“Nuestras Voces, Podcasting Workshop”, una serie de tres encuentros para aprender a producir historias en audio, se llevará a cabo por primera vez en el próximo mes de octubre en la ciudad de Asheville, ubicada en el oeste de Carolina del Norte. El taller es gratuito y cuenta con el apoyo de Cothinkk, una organización sin fines de lucro que auspicia proyectos que fomenten cambios positivos en las comunidades de color.
Los periodistas y productores Patricia Serrano y David Seth Miller obtuvieron un grant de Cothinkk para llevar a cabo este taller. Las personas que quieran participar pueden inscribirse y obtener mayor información en www.recordinglasamericas.org.
“No es necesario ser periodista o saber sobre producción de sonido. El objetivo del taller es compartir nuestro saber para que, quienes quieran, puedan contar sus historias en sus propios términos”, afirmó Serrano sobre el workshop y destacó: “Necesitamos mayor diversificación en las historias que se cuentan sobre nuestra comunidad en los medios y creemos que la mejor forma de lograrlo es contando nosotros mismos lo que pasa en nuestras comunidades”.
Nuestras Voces se dictará el sábado 1 y domingo 2 de octubre, de 2 a 4 PM, en Edificio La Esperanza, ubicado en Emma Road 528, West Asheville, NC.
Patricia Serrano y David Seth Miller son el equipo de producción periodística y de audio detrás de Enlace Latino Podcast, ahora en su cuarta temporada. También produjeron historias para Radio Ambulante de NPR y Blue Ridge Public Radio. Además acaban de lanzar “Recording Las Américas”, un proyecto sin fines de lucro que busca amplificar las voces subrepresentadas a través del periodismo de audio bilingüe en WNC.

Free, Bilingual Podcast Workshop for Asheville / WNC Latinx Communities (and Allies)
Asheville journalists and audio producers Patricia Serrano and David Seth Miller are presenting the free, bilingual podcast workshop “Nuestras Voces” over the 1st and 2nd of October (all dates 2-4 pm) in La Esperanza: 528 Emma Road, Asheville, North Carolina.
These workshops are aimed at Latinx community members (and allies) interested in producing audio stories or starting their own podcasts. Participants can register at www.recordinglasamericas.org.
“Nuestras Voces, Podcasting Workshop” will take place the first weekend in October.
This workshop is free and made possible by a grant from Cothinkk, a nonprofit dedicated to social change philanthropy to accelerate positive changes in communities of color in Asheville and Western North Carolina.
“You don’t have to have any experience with audio production or journalism,” says Serrano. The goal is to empower people to tell their stories in their own words.” She adds, “We need more diversity in the stories and representation of our communities, and we believe the best way to accomplish this is to tell these stories ourselves.”
Patricia Serrano and David Seth Miller are the journalist/audio production team behind North Carolina’s Enlace Latino Podcast, now in its 4th season, as well as producing stories for NPR’s Radio Ambulante and Blue Ridge Public Radio. Their recently launched org, Recording las Américas, seeks to amplify underrepresented voices through bilingual audio journalism.
