French Broad Vignerons announces new-member wineries

From French Broad Vignerons:

Marshall, NC – May 11, 2015 – Marshall, NC Today the French Broad Vignerons, a service and support organization for Western North Carolina vineyards, orchards, wine and cider makers and their products, welcomed three additional members – Biltmore Wines, Lake James Cellars and WoodMill Winery. This increases the number of its member wineries working together to make the region one of the premier wine and wine tourism regions in the country to twelve.  Together with the other winery members, they will collaborate in efforts to promote quality Western North Carolina wines that can be produced by wineries regardless of size, style or production techniques.

“By joining together to promote the wine and tourism industry in our we region we can have far more impact than by working individually.  By finding collaborative and enjoyable options for our guests we can build a recurring market for our products and a desire to return to our region because it offers so many enjoyable and flavorful options.” said Peter Fland, President of the French Broad Vignerons.

This movement to develop positive public perceptions of the region and its wines and products will involve a variety of awareness building efforts all designed to provide visitors (and local residents) to the region multiple opportunities to taste and savor the wine and winemaking experience.  These include:

  • Development and operational support of the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad’s MacNeill Uncorked Wine Train, featuring the pouring of seven wines from member wineries, a full three-course dinner, and a narrated touring experience.  Tickets are available for the last scheduled trip at www.gsmr.com
  • Establishment of Tasting Centers in four NC locations, with more expected
  • Partnership with the MountainXpress to develop print and online tourism guides featuring wineries, cideries, and creameries/cheese makers
  • Promotion of bus tours from the Asheville Hub to regional wineries
  • Encouraging and assisting those restaurants that source their provisions from local farms, dairies, and meat producers to source representative local wines and beverages
  • Designing various advertising and promotional activities intended to bring wines, ciders, products and palates together
  • A redesigned French Broad Vignerons website with member wineries featured and direct access to their purchase sites and tasting locations
