Gardening in the Mountains hosts talk about beneficial insects

This presentation will focus on the identification of beneficial insects and ways to attract them to your garden, allowing some of the bad pests to remain in order to keep the beneficial ones around.

Gardening in the Mountains presents: Beneficial Insects

Date: June 15, 2017, 11:30 am – 1 pm

New Location: Mountain Horticultural Research Station, 455 Research Drive, Mills River, NC 28759

Presenter: Jill Sidebottom, Area Extension Forestry/Mountain Conifer IPM Specialist

Many insects are helpful in the garden and can be an integral part in your strategy to control plant pests. This presentation will focus on the identification of beneficial insects and ways to attract them to your garden, allowing some of the bad pests to remain in order to keep the beneficial ones around. An overview of organic and conventional chemical use in the garden will also be discussed to help support the balance of both.

The talk is free but registration is requested by calling 828-255-5522. You are invited to bring a brown bag lunch.
