American Advertising Federation Asheville held its American Advertising Awards ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 24, to “recognize the best creative efforts of western North Carolina’s marketing industry,” according to a media release.

The “Best of Show” title went to G&T Communications — a company headquartered in Boone, N.C., but with a new office in Asheville’s Gerber Village — for its 30-second television spot entitled, “Use Your Energy Wisely.”

“As an area native, I’m delighted to accept this major award on behalf of our client and the G&T creative team who brought this energy-efficiency ad to life,” says Maggie G. Tilley, president of G&T Communications. “We opened a second office in Gerber Village a few months ago to tap into the rich, creative talent in Asheville, and we look forward to being more engaged in the business community.”

A slew of Asheville-based companies also took home gold and silver awards for exemplary marketing. Gold winners included Open Door Design Studio Co., SCALE, Brain Hooks and Market Connections, while silver titles went to Connie Aridas Creative, Market Connections, Amplified Media, Brain Hooks and Bonesteel Films.

The award winners now qualify to advance to a three-state district competition, which culminates in national-level competition.
