Habitat for Humanity hosts open house in Candler for interested homebuyers

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity (AAHH) is currently accepting applications for affordable homeownership in their 12-home Curry Court neighborhood in Candler. A free, drop-in tour of the townhomes will be offered on Wednesday, June 26 from 4-7pm. “This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in Habitat homeownership to see our new townhomes in person,” says Homeowner Services Director, Jenni Kerr.

Habitat staff will be on hand to answer questions and distribute applications to interested buyers. AAHH is an Equal Opportunity Housing provider that serves local residents who earn 45-70% of AMI (Area Median Income) and who meet other program qualifications.

Habitat homeowners are our neighbors! They are healthcare workers, teaching assistants, bus drivers, social workers, administrative professions, retail associates, and those who work in the service and tourism sector.

Mortgage payments range from $550 to $656/month, depending on house and family size. For most Habitat homeowners, their mortgage payment is lower than what they previously paid in rent.

Homeowners contribute at least 200 hours of sweat equity (volunteer service) as part of their partnership with Habitat.
