Habitat for Humanity seeks applicants for Home Repair program

Press release Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity:

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity (AAHH) is seeking applicants for its Home Repair program which helps low-income Buncombe County homeowners who need home repairs but lack the resources. Services include modifications for accessibility, exterior and interior repairs, floor and roof repairs, painting/staining, and much more. By offering low monthly payments and 0% interest financing, Habitat makes home improvement affordable for low-income homeowners.

“My house needed repair. Most crucially, it needed a new roof. Failure to replace the roof would mean continued deterioration of the structure, along with mold growth and pest problems. I purchased a bucket of tar and spread it around, hoping this would significantly delay the inevitable. It bought a little time. I felt despondent. I simply couldn’t afford a new roof…Enter Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity…I am extraordinarily moved by Habitat’s mission and relieved by their interest-free payment program. I enjoyed putting in my sweat equity hours at the ReStore, and will be volunteering time to them in the future.”
Immeasurably grateful and with deep gratitude,
Dawn E., Home Repair client

For many, the most affordable home is the one they already own. Habitat helps people like Dawn live longer and better in their homes by improving accessibility (ramps, grab bars, accessible shower/tubs), increasing safety and comfort (new windows, doors), and remediating issues that negatively affect health (water damage, inadequate heat). To learn more about the criteria for qualifying and how to apply, please visit ashevillehabitat.org or call (828)210-9370.

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity is an Equal Opportunity Housing provider. Since implementing the Home Repair program in 2010, Asheville Area Habitat has helped nearly 200 low-income homeowners make much needed repairs to their homes.
