Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Leaders received “Patriot Award”

Press Release from Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel:

Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel leaders were presented with the distinguished “Patriot Award” by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (or ESGR), a program of the US Department of Defense.

The ESGR was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment. The Patriot Award recognizes supervisors who have made efforts to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.

Leaders at Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River were nominated by EMT/Security Officer William Stockton, who currently serves in the 210th Military Police Company, and his wife Glenna Stockton who also works at the casino in Environmental Services. William Stockton stated, “My supervisors always work with me and adjust schedules on short notice.” He also added that, “the company has always kept in contact with me when on active duty and had a job waiting for me upon my return.”
