PRESS RELEASE FROM HART:

The folks at HART didn’t plan on opening the new Daniel & Belle Fangmeyer Theater with a fund raiser. The projections earlier this year had completion of the new $1.2 million dollar building by May. Opening events for donors and the community were planned for June, and then again in July.

HART has raised over $1 million towards the new theatre. However, with nearly $200,000 still needed, the HART fund raising committee began planning an event to address the potential debt. They set their sights beyond the planned open houses to August 27th. Well, as fate would have it, the new theatre was not ready for the earlier events, but will be completed just prior to the fund raising event Cirque du HART”. This will be a spectacular evening featuring the eight piece band Sirius B, and the high in the air performances by Asheville Aerial Arts.

Self-described as “Absurdist Gypsy Folk Funk Punk” Sirius.B combines accordion, violin, cello, acoustic guitar, flamenco and electric guitar, charango, banjo, African drums, marching band percussion, snare drum, upright bass, melodica, clarinet, and multi-lingual vocals to create a sound that has a gypsy feel, but with elements from other modern genres. No other band is quite like them and they fit the circus theme perfectly.

Asheville Aerial Arts, another local group of premier professional entertainers, will amaze attendees with feats performed by aerialists and acrobats. Many of the acts will be performed while hanging from the rafters of the new theatre space.

This will indeed be an event to remember, but it is a fund raiser and tickets are $125 each. Billed as a night of pure imagination and a mélange of divine cuisine, there will be a full cash bar, special Cirque du HART signature drinks, and attendees are invited to dress in circus attire if they desire. Attendance is limited, so anyone wishing to be a part of HART for this amazing night should call the box office at 828 456 6322, Tues.-Sat. from 1-5pm.

HART plans to have a formal open house with tours of the new facility a bit later, once all the bells and whistles are in place in what promises to be one of the most impressive venues in Western North Carolina. HART is located at 250 Pigeon St. in downtown Waynesville.
