City of Asheville, NC to Proclaim June 5-11, 2017 as Hemp History Week
8th Annual Hemp History Week Promotes Benefits of Industrial Hemp and Sustainable Agriculture with over 2,000 Events Nationwide

Asheville, NC – On Tuesday, May 23, the City of Asheville will make the proclamation that June 5-11, 2017 will be known as Hemp History Week. Hemp farming advocacy organizations Hemp4JobsNC and Carolina Hemp Co. will host a celebration of this declaration, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Court Plaza. Hemp History Week is a national grassroots education campaign, taking place from June 5-11, 2017, which aims to renew support for hemp farming in the United States. Hemp4JobsNC will educate community members on the vast environmental and economic benefits of hemp farming, promoting sustainable job opportunities available within the new hemp industry in NC, and discuss Asheville resident Timothy Sadler’s startup hemp company that converts hemp stalk into cellulose insulation. This family friendly event is free to attend and open to the public.

Hemp History Week will feature a national retailer and event program with over 2,000 participating stores, community events, restaurant, and hemp product sampling. The campaign will also feature a Take Action component, to encourage Congress to change federal policy by passing the Industrial Hemp Farming Act, and allow American farmers to once again grow industrial hemp. This year’s campaign theme is “Breaking Ground”, which focuses on how regenerative hemp farming, hemp foods, and other hemp products provide sustainability solutions for the next generation.
