What better way to st”Art” your fall adventures in the Western North Carolina Mountains this year than with a free weekend driving through beautiful Henderson County in search of talented local artists? The doors to 36 Henderson County art studios will swing open to welcome guests in the Open Studio Tour from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23. This all-volunteer effort showcases the work of local artists in painting, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, fiber and metal arts, woodworking, and glass. Now in its 8th year, the Henderson County Open Studio presented by the Art League of Henderson County has grown into one of the largest arts events of its kind in the Carolinas. 100% of all proceeds from art sold during the weekend is retained by the artists.

You can get a jumpst”Art” on your mountain weekend with the free Open Studio Tour Preview Party on Thursday evening September 20 as part of the Rhythm & Brews celebration on Main Street in Downtown Hendersonville. Backup Planet, a progressive funk-rock band based out of Nashville, is the headliner. At the Preview Party guests can sample all the artists’ work in one place and help raise money for the Backpack Program in Henderson County with an art raffle. The good times roll at 5:00 p.m.

Your Henderson County arts weekend also includes the Third Friday Gallery Hop on September 21 when more than a dozen galleries in downtown Hendersonville and Historic Flat stay open late to celebrate the arts with food, wine, live music, and special presentations. And while you’re here why not spend the week? On September 29-30 the Arts Council of Henderson County puts on its Art on Main Fine Art/Fine Craft Festival for the 59th consecutive year. Fine artists and artisans take over downtown Hendersonville on this much-anticipated weekend. Come meet more than 85 juried artists showing and selling their work, plus see many live demonstrations.
