Henderson County Public Schools welcomes kindergarteners with “Class of 2032” shirts

Press release from Henderson County Public Schools:

New classrooms, rules, teachers, and friends can be a lot to handle for 5-year-olds on their first day of kindergarten, so Henderson County Public Schools and local businesses want to ease their transition into formal education with a special gift.

Continuing a district tradition that was revived in 2015, the 1,000 incoming kindergarteners starting their first-ever days of school next week will receive “Class of 2032” T-shirts welcoming them into Henderson County Public Schools.

After a decade hiatus, the “Class of” T-shirts returned to HCPS in 2015, thanks to the support of local sponsors. This year, AdventHealth, Hendersonville Family Dental, Hendersonville Family YMCA, Horizon Heating & Air Conditioning, the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office STAR Program, Mast General Store, and NC Printing have made it possible for kindergarten students to receive “Class of 2032” shirts on their first week of school, celebrating the beginning of their education in Henderson County.

Each child will have the same shirt — regardless of which middle and high schools they eventually attend — building community among the students, as well as the parents and community members who will see the bright aqua shirts around town.

As a thank-you to our generous partners in the business community, HCPS has invited employees and representatives from each of the seven sponsor companies to the 13 elementary schools to help distribute the T-shirts and meet the students they’ll be impacting.
