Henderson County Public Schools will continue meal programs and child care services during spring break

Press release from Henderson County Public Schools:

Dear HCPS Family,

We encourage students, parents and teachers who have been hard at work with Learn from Home to take next week, April 13-17, away from your assignments and enjoy Spring Break. We are grateful for your dedication to your studies these past weeks!

Learn from Home
We will pick back up with remote learning on Monday, April 20. All K-12 students who are engaged virtually will continue to receive assignments through student email, Google Classroom and Google Meet. Students who engage in Learn from Home with paper and pencil materials will receive new assignments by US Postal Service the week after Spring Break.

Next week we’re shutting our books and laptops for Spring Break – but not our meal and child care services!

Meals
During the week of April 13-17, families will still be able to access meals at 9 HCPS meal pickup sites and 6 Meals On the Bus routes.

Grab-and-go meals will be available from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at:

  • Atkinson Elementary
  • Dana Elementary
  • Fletcher Elementary
  • Hillandale Elementary
  • Glenn C. Marlow Elementary
  • Sugarloaf Elementary
  • Upward Elementary
  • Apple Valley Middle/North Henderson High
  • Hendersonville Middle

Meals On the Bus routes #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, and #7 will remain in operation during Spring Break. See www.HCPSNC.org/COVID-19 for the full listing of each route’s stops.

Thanks to the generosity of local organizations, our Meals On the Bus routes will also be able to supply families with non- perishable foods and feminine hygiene products as items are available. Manna Food bank is providing “pantry packs” of breakfast and snack foods, Amazing Grace Ministry is providing bulk pantry items, and Project Dignity is supplying feminine hygiene products. Please note the stock of individual items will vary based on the availability of donations, but we hope this cooperative effort with our community partners can provide additional support to our families over Spring Break.

Child Care Services
Over the break, child care services [K-5] for healthcare workers and frontline first responders will continue to be provided at Dana, Edneyville, Hillandale, Fletcher, Mills River and expanded child care services [K-12] at the Boys and Girls Club of Hendersonville.

Even though Spring Break looks and feels different this year, it’s still a time for us to rest, recharge, and reconnect with loved ones. Stay home, stay well, and enjoy this time of rest.

  • Atkinson Elementary
  • Dana Elementary
  • Fletcher Elementary
  • Hillandale Elementary
  • Glenn C. Marlow Elementary
  • Sugarloaf Elementary
  • Upward Elementary
  • Apple Valley Middle/North Henderson High
  • Hendersonville Middle
