Press release from United Way of Henderson County:

HENDERSONVILLE, NC, July 19, 2021 – United Way of Henderson County has announced that it will launch its 11th annual Rising Leaders program this September. The 2021-22 Rising Leaders program will feature a mixture of in-person and virtual sessions. All in-person sessions will be conducted in accordance with current health and safety protocols in place.

Rising Leaders is an eight-month intensive program designed to develop the next generation of community leaders and board members for Henderson County nonprofit organizations. Participants will attend monthly information sessions covering a wide variety of topics including board member basics, fundraising, marketing, understanding nonprofit financials, and race, equity and inclusion for nonprofits. The program is free to participants, thanks to generous sponsorships from WNC Bridge Foundation and Carolina Village.

“For over ten years now, we’ve been working to build better board members and to diversify and expand the pool of board candidates in Henderson County,” said United Way Director ofCommunity Impact Sarah Kowalak. “Anyone who has an interest in deep, meaningful service to our community through nonprofits would be a great candidate for this program,” she added.

There will be an online information session held on Wednesday, July 28 at 12 noon. Interested candidates should visit liveunitedhc.org/rising-leaders to register for the information session, view course dates and complete an application. Applications will be accepted until August 20, 2021. Class size is limited to 20.
