Hendersonville Sister Cities will host wine tasting

Hendersonville Sister Cities Wine Education & Tasting Event on April 9

Hendersonville Sister Cities is partnering with Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards to educate local wine enthusiasts on the winemaking business – both in Henderson County and abroad.

A nonprofit organization seeking to promote the education and understanding of local and international culture, Hendersonville Sister Cities, Inc. is hosting a wine education event Saturday, April 9, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards.

For $15, guests will be treated to a sampling of 10 Saint Paul wines, paired with a 30-minute discussion from winery owner Alan Ward on local grapes, growing conditions, wine making and production.
Bringing some international flavor to the discussion, Mario Polon will discuss the history of wine, dating back to ancient Egypt, how the winemaking processes have evolved over the years, and what to look for when tasting wine. Polon, originally from Argentina, has taught wine education classes at Blue Ridge Community College.
Hors d’oeuvres are included in the $20 ticket price, and additional wine by the glass or bottle will be available for purchase from Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Hendersonville Sister Cities and the organization’s continued efforts to provide educational programs and events on international cultures, flavors and peoples.
