Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra announces new season

The Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra announces its 2015-16 concert season, titled “Magnificent,” in light of its elaborate performances featuring world-renowned guest artists. The concert season kicks off with “A Blue Danube Evening” featuring maestro Thomas Joiner on September 12. Each concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Hall at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock. A season ticket is $145 per adult, and individual tickets cost $35 per concert.

Reflecting an emphasis on elaborate performances featuring world-renowned guest artists, the Hendersonville Symphony has titled its upcoming 2015-16 concert season “Magnificent.”
Under the direction of music director and conductor Thomas Joiner, the symphony’s 44th season will begin Sept. 12 with “A Blue Danube Evening.”

“We are excited about Maestro Joiner’s plans for our 44th season,” said Bill Humleker, executive director for the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra. “Our patrons will be blown away by the guest artists and the performances this season.”

“A Blue Danube Evening” will feature waltzes, polkas, mazurkas and marches by the Strauss family, Mozart, Schubert, Nicolai, von Suppand more. Audience favorites such as the Blue Danube Waltz and the traditional Radesky March will be on the program. The season will close on April 30, 2016, with featured guest pianist Jorge Federico Osorio, who is returning by popular demand for his second year in a row.

Osorio will be continuing the HSO’s Beethoven Piano Concerto cycle with a performance of his favorite — Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58. The HSO Young Artist Competition winner will also perform in this final concert of the 2015-16 season.

“Magnificent” will be a season of collaborations with both local and international guest artists. Violinist Brian Lewis, renowned touring and recording artist Jan Mulder and Western North Carolina’s own Carolina Concert Choir with artistic director and conductor professor Lawrence Doebler, will also share performances.

Each concert will be performed at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Hall at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock. HSO is offering two performance times for “A Carolina Christmas,” one at 3 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m.

The concert schedule is as follows:

◆ “Danse Macabre” featuring violinist Brian Lewis, Oct. 10.

◆ “A Carolina Christmas” featuring pianist Jan Mulder, Dec. 12.

◆ “A Classic Collaboration” featuring the Carolina Concert Choir and professor Lawrence Doebler, conductor and artistic director, March 19, 2016.

◆ “From Vienna to Cologne” featuring pianist Jorge Federico Osorio and the HSO Young Artist Competition winner, April 30, 2016.

The price of a season ticket is $145 per adult, and individual tickets cost $35 per concert. A $2 processing fee, plus the North Carolina sales tax of 6.75 percent is added to each order.
