Hendersonville man becomes first to scratch off $100,000 instant prize

From the press release from the N.C. Education Lottery:

RALEIGH – A Hendersonville man is the first winner of $100,000 in the Super Lucky 7’s game. Ivan Gilbert won the top prize after buying his winning ticket at the Quick Stop on Merrimon Avenue in Asheville. His after-tax winnings totaled $68,001. Super Lucky 7’s started April 24 with five top prizes of $100,000. With Gilbert’s win, four such prizes remain unclaimed in the game.

Since the lottery began through June 30 of last year, Henderson County education programs received more than $14.8 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.

To date, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.35 billion for these initiatives statewide.
