Hickory Nut Gap Farm to host Fall Renaissance Faire at the Farm, Sept. 8

[FAIRVIEW, NC, August 29th-] After months of planning, Hickory Nut Gap Farm has put together an impressive list of performers, artists, and renaissance-related talent for the upcoming “Fall Renaissance Faire at the Farm.”

The all-day event kicks off on Saturday, September 8th from 11am-4pm. Performances are scheduled throughout the day under the Big Barn and Main Stage with roaming and stationary vendors throughout.

Priding themselves on historical accuracy, the Warriors of Ash HEMA School will be dressed in proper period wear while equipped with longswords, battle axes, and Viking shieldwalls, fighting with perfect dueling technique. Another fighting performance by the Fencing Club of Asheville will be treating guests to a fencing demo. For locals who are familiar with long-time employee of the farm and current Event Manager, Megan Auten, she has been an avid participant in the Fencing Club and will be displaying her talents in the arena as well.

Forty Fingers & a Missing Tooth will entertain audiences with a complex juggling performance, acrobatic incorporations, and plenty of antics. Pyrotechnics mix with fantastical moves with a fire spinning display by Peace, Love, and Fire. As a special surprise for the younger audience, long-time Asheville puppeteer Keith Shubert will be performing puppetry arts.

Specialty vendors who will be entertaining throughout the day include balloon arts by the Jolly Balloon Smith, Horsehair Pottery Demo by Stonehouse Pottery, and the ever exciting axe throwing booth by Carolina Axe Throwing.

Included with admission, guests can also partake in all fall festivity attractions currently happening at the farm; corn maze, corn silo, apple sampling,fresh pressed apple cider, culvert slides, animals to visit, and much more. Plus, there will be a Renaissance themed photo booth, face painting and costume contest awarding the King and Queen of the Faire with first place prizes.

Local beers, local mead, and a buffet of HNG prepared dishes are available for purchase throughout the day.

Day of ticket prices increase to $13 for ages 13+ and $9 for kids 5-12. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume for added fun but not required.
