Historic Barns Photo Contest accepts submissions through Sept. 19

Press release:

The Historic Barns Photo Contest with the Madison County Fair is gearing up. So, get out your cameras and camera phones and drive the rural roads for the best shots of Madison County barns. Or, go through previous photos and find 2 of your favorites to submit.

The Appalachian Barn Alliance is sponsoring the Sixth Annual Historic Barns Photo Contest as part of the Madison County Fair’s photography category. In the past 5 years, we have been grateful for the support of the Madison County TDA to provide cash awards. Now that the event has a good start, the contest will not have cash awards and will be another category of the photo competition of the Madison County Fair.

Entrants are asked to submit one or two pictures of barns built before 1960. There are two age groups: Youth (4th through 12th graders) and Adult. Winning photos will be posted on the Appalachian Barn Alliance website after being awarded at the Fair—September 21, 22, 23.

Contest Rules and Entry Forms will be available in the Madison County Fair Booklet which can be picked up at the County Extension office or at the Madison Country Libraries or downloadable from http://madisoncofair.org or from the Photo Contest tab of the Appalachian Barn Alliance website. If you have questions, please call Sandy Stevenson of the Appalachian Barn Alliance at 828 380-9146.
