HT-N: Family dog killed by shooter in owner’s backyard

From Monday’s Hendersonville Time-News:

Kay Burnett shook her head with dismay as she clutched her Yorkshire terrier, Meme, to her chest Sunday and looked down on the fresh grave in her backyard on Josiah Lane.

“I just can’t believe anyone could be so cruel,” Burnett said, staring down at the makeshift grave with its wooden cross and pot of purple flowers.

Her husband, Sammie, pointed up in the woods behind the couple’s home where he suspects the rifle shot came from that killed their 11-year-old pit bull-terrier mix, Bubbie, as he stood tethered in their yard Friday night or early Saturday morning.
