AmiciMusic performs and an art show is on display for Jazzical: an afternoon of music and art at Congregation Beth Israel. The event takes place on Sunday,  July 12, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Press release from event organizers:

What piece of classical/jazz music spent nearly 10 years on the Billboard Top 40 in the 70s-80s? Claude Bolling’s First Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio written for Jean-Pierre Rampal in 1973. This is wonderful crossover classical/jazz music that everyone of a certain age recognizes, and people of all ages can enjoy. It’s part of the program at this year’s special art and music event known as “Jazzical,” an annual fundraiser at Congregation Beth Israel.

Claude Bolling is a French composer and pianist, while Rampal was a blockbuster flutist in the 1970s. The program on this Sunday summer afternoon concert will include movements from his Picnic Suite for Flute, Guitar and Jazz Piano Trio written for Rampal and Alexandre Lagoya in 1980, and some solo jazz piano music sure to delight.

Musicians are Dan Weiser, who is AmiciMusic’s Artistic Director, Lea Kibler, Steve Newbrough, Will Beasley and Justin Wyatt.

The art show will feature the works of Eileen Ross (acryclic fine artist), Barbara Sammons (photography) and Raquel Egosi (mixed media).
