Keever sends McHenry “Save Medicare Petition” with over 6,000 signatures

Asheville—This morning Patsy Keever released the following statement again criticizing Patrick McHenry’s extreme policy positions.

“My campaign has delivered a petition with over 6,000 signatures on it to my opponent, calling on him to abandon his extreme, far-right position on Medicare. The people who signed this petition want Congressman McHenry to know that they can’t afford to end Medicare as we know it. They can’t afford to pay an additional $6,000 a year for their health insurance and they can’t afford to have someone in Congress who embraces the most extreme posture of his party; not when those positions hurt the people he is supposed to be representing.”

The petition was mailed to Congressman McHenry’s office on Friday. Below is the text of the letter that accompanied it.

Dear Congressman McHenry:

Enclosed is a petition with over 6,000 signatures asking you to reverse your stance on Medicare. These signees from North Carolina and beyond do not want Medicare as we know it to end, they can’t afford to pay over $6,000 a year more for their health insurance. They do not want a voucher system to take the place of the program that they have paid into with lifetimes of hard work, and they have joined together in signing this petition to ask you to heed their request.

Respectfully,

Rep. Patsy Keever, NC-115
