Last day of school extended for Isaac Dickson Elementary following water main incident

Announcement from Asheville City Schools:

Due to the six-inch main line burst, Isaac Dickson Elementary School lost two hours and forty-five minutes of instruction time on Wednesday, June 5th.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has informed us this morning at  8:43 AM that yesterday’s lost instructional hours must be made-up according to their calendar laws.

To make-up this time, Isaac Dickson Elementary School will extend Friday, June 7th’s school day to 2:45 PM.  Originally, Friday, June 7th was an Early Dismissal Day. On Friday, Isaac Dickson Elementary School students who normally ride the bus will have transportation.  Buses will begin taking students home at 2:45 PM. Students who are typically car riders can be picked up at 2:45 PM.

Friday’s change in dismissal times will only impact Isaac Dickson Elementary School.  On Friday, June 7th, all other elementary schools will dismiss at 12:00 noon with secondary schools dismissing at 1:00 PM.
