Leadership Asheville presents ‘2013 Leadership Asheville Buzz’ event

LEADERSHIP ASHEVILLE PRESENTS THE JULY BUZZ 2013 SUMMER BREAKFAST HIRE AND HIGHER EDUCATION

Asheville: Hire and Higher Education will be explored during the 2013 Leadership Asheville Buzz summer breakfast on Wednesday, July 24th at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel. The public is invited to attend this session which will explore the higher education business in Asheville from an innovation perspective. The panel presentation will be 8-9 AM with registration and a hot breakfast buffet starting at 7:30 AM. Admission is $20.00 and includes a chance to win door and raffle prizes. Reservations can be made by contacting programs@leadershipasheville.org.

Panelists include:

David O. Belcher, D.M.A., chancellor of Western Carolina University; Anne Ponder, Ph.D., chancellor of UNC Asheville; Melissa Quinley, vice president for instructional services at A-B Tech; and Steven Solnick, Ph.D., president of Warren Wilson College. The moderator will be William Sederburg, Ph.D. (LA 31), senior scholar at American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Those attending will have the opportunity to win door prizes and raffle prizes including: a three minute Spotlight Carolina segment on WLOS-TV for one’s favorite non-profit; basket of SkinFare products from CoCoChi Inc.; three month CSA membership from Warren Wilson College; Fender electric/acoustic guitar from Alan’s Pawn and Jewelry; or a Theramin from Moog Music.
Wrapping up Buzz 2013 will be a look at Businesses Putting Asheville on the Map on Wednesday, August 14. Panelists include:

Kara Errickson, CEO and founder of CoCoChi Inc. the maker of SkinFare; Peter Krauss, chief sales and marketing officer at PLI, world’s largest keycard manufacturer; Eric Oelschlaeger, president and co-Founder of Epsilon Inc., business technology consulting and IT provider; and Karsten Shein, Ph.D., climatologist/climate and marine ecosystems lead at NOAA National Climatic Data Center. Moderator: Pam Lewis, director of entrepreneurship for Asheville/Buncombe Economic Development and Venture Asheville.
