THE IMMERSION
OCTOBER 1926 DR. E.W. GROVE …A WAKE for LIVING and DEAD
You have been cordially invited to a traditional old world open casket wake hosted at Lex 18 for Dr. E.W. Grove. The extraordinary Dr. Grove, creator of the Tasteless Quinine Company which he established in Asheville, North Carolina in 1900 had many interest in Asheville, including the famous Battery Hotel, Grove Arcade and Grove Park Inn. With great sadness friends found Dr. Grove presumed dead in his room at the Battery Hotel.

Hearts filled with sadness for the passing and joy with the knowledge of this great man, Grove’s friends bring forth their stories, toasts, songs and dance, ever-increasingly dramatized with their growing tipsiness. Unbeknownst to friends gathered at hand Dr. Grove is all but dead an comic absurdities ensue with each passing toast, speech, song, dance until the host calls the dead to life and pandemonium ensues!

If your closet does not offer these options, we do ask our diners to dress semi formal; jacket and tie for men and cocktail attire for women. A week prior, guests will receive an emailed invitation providing directions and information detailing the evening’s event.
