North Carolina Stage Company will be hosting a singer-songwriter
listening-room concert series called Up Close in July and August 2018.

North Carolina Stage Company announces a summer series of some of the
nation’s most talented songwriters, performing live this July. Artists have
just been announced and will include Joe Pug on July 20th, 2018 and Dom
Flemons on July 27th, 2018. With only 125 seats available, Up Close will
seem like your own personal concert.

Both shows are at 8:00pm with doors opening at 7:00pm. Tickets are $22 in
advance and $25 at the door.

Joe Pug has been described as having an overwhelming feel of authenticity,
relying on his steely guitar plucking and rich vocals. His albums include
Messenger (2010), The Great Despiser (2012), and Windfall (2015). His
concert venues include Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and The Newport Folk
Festival. He’s been named in American Songwriter’s “Top 50 Songs Of The
Year” and NPR Mountain Stage’s “Favorite Performances of 2015”.

Dom Flemons, one of the founding members of the Grammy Award winning
Carolina Chocolate Drops, is described as “The American Songster.” His
repertoire of music covers nearly 100 years of American folklore, ballads,
and tunes. He is an expert on the banjo, fife, guitar, harmonica,
percussion, quills, and rhythm bones. His albums include Prospect Hill
(2014), What Got Over (2015) and this year’s Black Cowboy. He has performed
in venues like Carnegie Hall, Cecil Sharp House, the Grand Ole Opry, and the
Opening Ceremony for the National Museum of African American History and
Culture.
