Little Jumbo seeking local artists for 2020 installation

Press release from Little Jumbo:

Little Jumbo, a neighborhood bar located between Montford and 5 Points at the corner of Elizabeth and Broadway, is seeking artist applications to design and place “Our Weird Art Installation” for 2020.

Little Jumbo values and supports the creative energy of the Asheville community. A local Buncombe County artist is invited to use materials, space, and time in a transformative way to create the highly visible “Weird Art Installation” for 2020. Little Jumbo will be accepting proposals from an artist with a portfolio that demonstrates the artist’s ability to craft/curate an installation piece, preferably with a minimum of 3 works created in the last 2 years.

Curation of the exhibit will be selected by the owners and staff of Little Jumbo, as well as previous installation artist, Kehren Barbour. Selection will be made from applications received by November 1, 2019. The artwork will be installed on January 2, 2020 and will be displayed until December 1, 2020. Little Jumbo is offering $250 for materials plus a $500 honorarium.

Artists interested in applying should assemble a bid that includes their CV, a project description describing the concept of their idea, and images or links to work representative of the artist’s style and aesthetic. Sketches of concept and supplemental materials related to installation design are strongly encouraged. Enthusiastic applicants are invited to visit the bar to view the installation space.
