Local embroiderer among the finalists in a global competition

Press release from DKC:

Asheville-based embroiderer Rebecca Kneale from Sew Happy Girls is a finalist in the first-ever Etsy Design Awards, a global competition that recognizes the work of extraordinary creatives from around the world.

Rebecca’s hand embroidered custom tie patch, a sentimental wedding day keepsake, is one of 30 global finalists in the competition’s Festive Celebrations category. First created as a special wedding day gift for a friend, Rebecca’s wedding patches are now a best seller. She is now in the running for the $15,000 USD Grand Prize or the Festive Celebrations category prize.

Global winners will be announced in September 2019, selected by a panel of internationally recognized tastemakers and entrepreneurs – including writer and actor Dan Levy, style expert Joe Zee, author & artist Garance Doré, interior designer Sophie Robinson, décor expert Holly Becker, fashion designer Anavila Misra and Etsy’s Global Trend Expert Dayna Isom Johnson.
