Press release from Asheville Police Department:

(ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Nov. 30, 2016) – An Asheville Police officer on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 observed an older model tan Crown Victoria with North Carolina plates on Haywood Road in west Asheville flashing blue lights in the back window. It was determined that the vehicle was not an official law enforcement vehicle and the vehicle was stopped.

Tivadar Hagymasi, 33, of Asheville  was arrested and charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer.  Upon inspection of the vehicle, it was determined that in addition to the blue lights in the back window, Hagymasi also had a blue/red combo light in the front of the car.

As a stipulation to his pre-trial arrest, Hagymasi is banned from running any of these lights. If anyone spots Hagymasi driving with these lights, they are asked to call 828-252-1110.

The public is urged to take notice of Hagymasi’s picture and vehicle description. If approached or followed by someone in the described vehicle with flashing lights, please call 911.
