Local resident Randi Janelle releases first novel along with similarly themed escape game business Clocks n Locks

From Randi Janelle

Press release

Local author Randi Janelle is releasing her first novel on Halloween with entertainment business to follow on Christmas. The book is titled The Story: Deviation and is the first in a series titled The Story.

The blurb: When Dan encounters The Anger, he supplements his day job as a high school math teacher with writing a novel. The Anger, a product of feeling enslaved to his job, recedes as the inspiration for his story emerges, but little does he know. He’s not in control. Neither are his characters.

This rich and complex novel, populated with intriguing characters of differing nationalities and beliefs and orientations, takes the reader deep into the world of “What if?”

What if you were transported to a time and space to learn the story of a person outside his or her stereotypes? If you had to relive a series of moments, would you continue in habitual patterns, or would you deviate from them? Who’s is in control? Are you?

The book’s themes of feeling trapped and pursuing freedom echo Janelle’s Escape Game business, Clocks n Locks. It will feature a room designed after the book, as well as clues from Asheville’s literary history and canon. The other room will celebrate Asheville’s brewing culture. Clocks n Locks will open its doors to its downtown location on Christmas Day.

Janelle’s book will be released on October 31st, at a party at Battery Park Book Exchange from 6:00pm. It will feature a costume contest, scavenger hunt, door prizes and more. All are welcome!
