Local group organizes Dec. 22 ‘planetary birth event’

Here’s the press release from organizers:

ASHEVILLE GROUP COORDINATES PLANETARY BIRTH EVENT WITH
GLOBAL UNITY DAY – DECEMBER 22, 2012
Asheville, NC –

Forget the Doomsday prophets and end of the Mayan Calendar. One local group is coordinating an event tied into a Global 24-hour Celebration called “Birth 2012: A New Beginning”, with activities now planned in 26 countries – and that number is growing!

Local organizers suggest that as many as 100 million people will unite around the world in a historic day of global unity that will birth a new era for humankind: a global rite of passage filled with celebration, prayer, cultural expression and acts of generosity. “This has the potential to dramatically shift the way we perceive our future,” says Celeste Lauren, who has been working to organize the Asheville event for many months. “We are committing to a new form of global cooperation in creating a world that works for everyone.”

International events will unfold much as they did on New Year’s of 1999 – a celebration many remember. “The first events begin in Byron Bay, Australia on December 20th” says Sherry Vaughan, another of the local organizers, “and the wave of celebration reaches around the world in a continuous flow. It’s very exciting!”

The Asheville event is scheduled for December 22nd at the Center for Spiritual Living in west Asheville. The night features live performances by the group LUMINA, music by Richard Shulman, sharings of indigenous wisdom and a Pachakuti Mesa by Kim Hughes, US Operations Manager from the THOTH organization, and “Embracing the Elements” by Michele Laub, MS Toltec Wisdom Teacher in the lineage of don Miguel Ruiz who authored The Four Agreements. Special meditations are planned, and the evening promises to engage participants in a heart-opening, transformative experience.

“While the Long Count period of the Mayan calendar may be ending,” says local author and Maya researcher Karon Korp, another of the organizers, “I can assure you the Maya people see this as a new beginning, and we are going to celebrate along with them!”

Asheville Event Information: Saturday, December 22nd, 7:00 – 9:30pm, Tickets are $10 online at the Center’s website or at the door, $8.00 advance cash or check; Center for Spiritual Living, 2 Science of Mind Way, Asheville NC 28806 (1 block S. of Bear Creek Road & Sandhill Road);
