ASHEVILLE. N.C. (Feb. 13, 2012) – The big winners at Tuesday’s Orange Peel Winter Jam concert were the children of western North Carolina. Local Clear Channel radio station 99.9 KISS Country (WKSF-FM) raised more than $28,000 to benefit Mission Children’s Hospital at its fifth annual Winter Jam concert on Feb. 12, 2013.

“Time and again, this community demonstrates its commitment to our region’s children,” said Bruce Thorsen, President of Mission Foundation. “We commend KISS Country for their dedication to serve our community and our region. They make it possible for so many children to receive world-class health care without regard to their family’s ability to pay.

Winter Jam is the second of three events leading up to the KISS Country Cares for Kids Radiothon hosted by the radio station each year to benefit Mission Children’s Hospital. This year’s Radiothon takes place Feb. 22-23 at the Reuter Family YMCA in Biltmore Park Town Square. KISS Country and Mission Foundation set a mutual goal to raise $160,000 for WNC’s only children’s hospital. So far, with Guitar Jam held in November 2012, last night’s Winter Jam and other gifts, the fundraising initiative has raised more than half of its goal.

A line-up of country legends and rising stars that included Billy Ray Cyrus, Uncle Kracker, Love and Theft, Craig Campbell, Greg Bates and Maggie Rose, played a sold-out, one-of-a-kind concert at the Orange Peel.
