May 1 workshop on accessing “Dream and Spirit realms for transformative prose and poetry”

PRESS RELEASE FROM WORKSHOP ORGANIZERS:

Access the Dream and Spirit realms for transformative prose and poetry!

MAY 1st

Dive into the magical realms of the child, the shaman, the dreamer, the mystic, and bring your writing to another level of creativity and power.

Open to writers and aspiring writers of any level.

Join us for a day of experiential, playful and curiosity-based journeys that unleash our imagination and go beyond. Amazing writing begins with openness to feeling, present-moment awareness, and the intuitive receptivity of dreaming. We will practice writing from the starting points of visualization, body-awareness, and the receptive brain state accessed through shamanic drumming — interacting along the way with muses, characters from the imaginal realms, and mythical symbols from our own personal journeys.

The beings we meet in other worlds, inner or outer, real or symbolic, not only enrich our growing human lives but infuse our art with inspiration that resonates deeper than the thinking mind. When we know that a story or poem flows through us like medicine from realms beyond, it frees us to write without self-judgment or limitation.

The facilitators — Mindi Meltz, author of Lonely in the Heart of the World and Beauty, and Bonnie Freestone, Somatic practitioner, writer and improvisational performance artist — have inspired each other to dream, write and share their work for over a decade.

WHERE: Heart House, 5 Covington St., Asheville
WHEN: Sunday, May 1
COST: $75.

TO REGISTER, contact Mindi Meltz at mindimeltz@earthlink.net.
Deadline for registration is April 24th.
