Minorcan performs at The Odditorium, April 2

Local three-piece folk-rock outfit Minorcan announces a show at The Odditorium on Thursday, April 2. Rickolus and Desperate Pilot join the bill.

Press release from the bands:

MIN0RCAN is a three-piece based out of Asheville lead by Ryan Anderson. He is joined on stage by Joey Terry on bass (of Poison Control Center) and Dustin Goose on drums (of Snack Champion). The trio play rock music!

Good folks at LISTEN, ASHEVILLE had these kind words to say: “So, Minorcan…is pretty incredible. The reality lies heavy in their tunes. The songwriting is phenomenal. It’s emotional and, somehow, simultaneously playful. They keep it simple and delve deep into sentimental storytelling, making the plain seem breathtakingly beautiful. I don’t say this often…Or EVER: But there is something Neil Young-esque about the songwriting style. And that’s HUGE.”

RICKOLUS (aka Rick Colado) is a one man band from Jax Beach, FL. He was the last film projectionist in the state of Florida and was the leader of the group The Julius Airwave.

Rick “has a way of filling out fragile folk melodies with bittersweet bravado, so that verses murmur and harmonica-and-accordion-stuffed choruses soar.” (BLURT ONLINE.COM)

“For as straightforward as Rickolus’ acoustic tracks are in a structural sense, they also sound like nothing else in the singer-songwriter genre. Part of this is the man’s melodic voice, which commands with simplicity and conjures a diverse spectrum of emotions. It’s also his old school recording techniques, which favor fuzzy 4-track simplicity over studio gloss.” (ARTLUXMAG.COM)

DESPERATE PILOT is an Asheville band featuring long time locals SB & TW from the beloved Hope & Anchor. They sing beautiful punk rock songs and offer the public one of the most uniquely intimate performances in town.
