From the press release:

Asheville, N.C., Feb. 1, 2012 – Becker’s Hospital Review, the leading source of cutting-edge business and legal information for hospital and health system personnel, has named Mission Hospital to their “Top 101 Hospitals With Great Spine and Neurosurgery Programs.”

The award recognizes outstanding spine and neurosurgical care. Hospitals were selected based on nominations, clinical accolades, quality care, and other spine and neurosurgical proficiencies. Not only have the hospitals on the list been honored for their excellence, but they have also been recognized for distinction in the spinal specialty by reputable health rating sources, such as U.S. News & World Report, HealthGrades, and Thomson Reuters.

“We are pleased to be honored by Becker’s Hospital Review,” said Jonathan Bailey, Vice President of Orthopedics, Neurosciences, and Trauma. “This award truly exemplifies the hard work our dedicated team of physicians and care givers provides every day for our patients and community.”

Mission Hospital’s Neurosciences Institute includes the Mission Spine Center, which offers up-to-date technological treatment options for spinal spondylolisthesis and other spinal disorders. The center performs more than 2,500 spine procedures each year, from minimally invasive to major reconstructive surgery.

Mission Hospital has received multiple Spine Surgery Excellence Awards from HealthGrades, which annually rates the nation’s 5,000 hospitals. Mission Spine Center has also been honored as a Blue Distinction Center for Specialty Care from BlueCross BlueShield. Blue Distinction’s goal is to give consumers in need of specialty care credible information to make more effective health care decisions, thus delivering better value to BlueCross BlueShield Members.
