Montreat College hosts third annual RETR3AT Cybersecurity Conference

Press release from Montreat College:

Montreat College announced today that it will host its 3rd annual RETR3AT Cybersecurity Conference on October 27 on the Montreat College campus. RETR3AT is designed to engage, educate, and raise awareness about cybersecurity in Western North Carolina and beyond. The conference goes beyond the “1s and 0s” approach to cybersecurity training, challenging attendees to think about how to lead in protecting their organization’s information within an ethical framework.

“Cybersecurity and cyberwarfare are becoming the most critical national defense and economic crises of our time,” said Montreat College President Paul Maurer. “Montreat College seeks to play a formative role in shaping the nation’s approach to educating the cybersecurity leaders of the future by anchoring it, for the first time, in a character and ethics-based curriculum.”

This year’s RETR3AT keynote speaker is U.S. Department of Energy Chief Information Officer Max Everett. Other speakers at this year’s conference will include Bank of America Senior Vice President for Information Security Amy Braswell, FBI Special Agent Brian Cyprian, National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education Director Rodney Peterson, Ally Bank Information Security & Risk Management Executive Keith Gordon, CVS Senior Director of Information Security Casey Marquette, CounterHack Founder Ed Skoudis, Tenable Network Security Director of Business Development Chris Cleary, Montreat College Cybersecurity Professor Kelli Burgin, and Montreat College Ethics Professor Mark Wells.

Among the sponsors for the 2017 RETR3AT conference are Bank of America, Consolidated Assurance, Cisco, Samaritan’s Purse, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Dixon Hughes Goodman, Edgepoint, Tenable Network Security, RISC Networks, Drake Software, the Educational Research Consortium, the Biltmore Company, ePlus, Queen Associates, and Southern Champion Tray.

The RETR3AT Cybersecurity Conference will take place Friday, October 27, on the Montreat College campus. Early bird registration is $125 ($150 after August 31). Learn more and register at www.retr3at.com.
