ASHEVILLE, NC – October 15, 2013 – Moogfest is a celebration that honors the creativity and inventiveness of Moog Music founder Dr. Robert Moog, and pays tribute to the legacy of the analog synthesizer.

Moogfest, established in 2004 to celebrate Bob Moog’s legacy of innovation, creativity, technology and collaboration, is expanding in 2014 from a three-day, multi-stage music festival to a five-day event dedicated to the convergence of technology, art and music. The extended festival will not only include landmark musical performances, but also an innovation conference, an electronic instrument “pop-up shop,” and daytime conference programming with mind-expanding futurists, artists and innovators, extending far beyond the scope of a typical music festival.

Moog Music, the company Bob Moog founded, has long been revered as a pioneer in technology with far-reaching effects into popular music and culture. Moogfest was created to reflect that heritage.

Said Moog Music President, Mike Adams, “We have evolved our festival to truly celebrate the pioneering spirit of Bob Moog; uniting art, music and innovative technology to explore the dimensions of creative expression. This is the heart of Moog and our fans around the world.”

Moogfest 2014 will have an expanded local focus, with much of the daytime programming, including new media art installations, outdoor music and educational exhibits, free to local residents.

Also new in 2014 is a strategic partnership with the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) to produce a first-of-its-kind tech expo and interactive job fair. This two-day event is designed to highlight North Carolina technology companies and promote economic development in the region.

“NCTA is excited to partner with Moogfest to introduce a Tech Expo component to the festival,” said Brooks Raiford, president & CEO of NCTA. “Our member companies range from startups and global tech companies. This is a great opportunity for consumer and creative technology companies to showcase their products and connect with thousands of festival attendees.”

Both the tech expo and interactive job fair will be free and open to the public.

Today, as a thank you to their longtime supporters, Moogfest is releasing a limited number of $99 five-day festival passes only available to local residents, registered Moog instrument owners and those signed up on the Moogfest mailing list. Tickets go on sale to the general public on November 14, 2013. To purchase discounted $99 tickets, Buncombe County residents must go to the U.S. Cellular Center box office with identification and proof of residency between 11am-5pm today, October 15th.

The mission is for Moogfest to better reflect the values of its namesake, Bob Moog. Beyond the nightly world class music programming, the platform of talks, panel discussions and presentations, film screenings, art installations, and technology competitions, establish Moogfest as a hybrid festival that encourages conversation, experimentation and collaboration between music pioneers, technology professionals, influential thinkers, new media artists, electronic music instrument makers and creative enthusiasts.
