As spring is springing around every bend, the Mountain Roots crew is looking forward to the joys of summer! Mountain Roots is excited to announce that they will be offering 7 weeks of day camps in Brevard in 2016. Recognizing the need for quality child-centered programs year round in Transylvania County (and throughout WNC), Mountain Roots is growing their offerings to include five weeks of traditional day camp (ages 4-11) and two weeks of pottery camp (ages 6-15). “The interest in our programs is being expressed at a rapid rate”, notes Ali Lien, Mountain Roots Executive Director. “With the incorporation of our bi-weekly Outdoor Education initiative at Brevard Academy and our Roots Adventures programs for families through United Way’s PEAK Collaborative, our reach in this community is really gaining traction. We look forward to serving the kids and families of this community in 2016!”
Mountain Roots Day Camp provides an opportunity for campers to play, learn, and grow with new and old friends in a beautiful outdoor setting. The kind and generous folks of Brevard Community Church are allowing Mountain Roots to host their camps at BCC once again this year (with such wonderful green space and youth-centered outbuildings). Mountain Roots camps focus around several themes and allow campers to explore nature, music, art, gardening, and community. This year campers will have the opportunity to get a bit muddy as they assist with the Community Garden of Brevard Community Church. What a great opportunity to dig deep and help others!
For those families that are starting to map out summer plans, Mountain Roots is excited to announce that we offer multi-week, group, and sibling discounts. Looking to the future, in 2017 Mountain Roots plans to provide a summer-long opportunity (8-10 weeks) for families that need quality child-centered options, while simultaneously offering one-week camp sessions for local and visiting youth.
