Musicke Antiqua plays Christmas shows, Dec. 16 & 18

Press release from Musicke Antiqua:

Anticipation? Excitement? Hope? Contemplation? Share some of the moods of Christmas with early music group Musicke Antiqua at one of its winter public performance venues:

Sunday, December 16, 3:00 @ St. Matthias Episcopal Church (1 Dundee St., Asheville NC)
Tuesday, December 18, Noon @ Transylvania Co. Library (212 S Gaston St., Brevard NC)

Musicke Antiqua’s 2018 Christmas program will explore these holiday moods – and others –through music from the 15th through the 20th century.

Our musicians perform in Renaissance costumes on replicas of early instruments, including recorders, percussion instruments, crumhorns, and violas da gamba.

Musicke Antiqua offers historically informed live performances and educational programs designed to inspire appreciation of early music and support its study.

Musicke Antiqua began as a recorder trio in Brevard, NC, in 2001, and now includes 13 members from western North Carolina. Performers include professional musicians, & retired educators of music, computer science, language, journalism, sociology, botany, and mathematics; others come from the fields of psychology, cartography, and photography.
