News release from the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office:
The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office confirms that the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has initiated a comprehensive independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Geneva Daniels, 57, who was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on April 18, 2025, and died on April 19.
Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller contacted the District Attorney early morning on April 19, to notify the D.A.’s Office of her passing.
No further information is available for public release as the investigation is underway.
