NC Disabilities Council hosts focus group, Aug. 18 via Zoom

Press release from North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities:

North Carolina’s statewide disability council will host a focus group for the Western region of the state on the state’s housing plan. The focus group is for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) and/or traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and will be held on August 18 at 3 PM via Zoom.

Hosted by the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) and the North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services (NC DMH/DD/SAS), the focus group aims to understand the perspective and feedback on affordable and supportive housing to help in better understanding the housing landscape and housing needs in the state.

The focus group will for the Western Region will held on the following date and time. The event is free, but registration is required.

A new statewide Strategic Housing Plan was recently announced by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) to help how they focus on allocating resources to create and maximize community-based housing opportunities for people with disabilities who are homeless, living in an institution, or at risk of moving into an institution over the next five years.
