New session of wellness program, Haywood 4 Good, begins on January 1, 2022

Pres release from Haywood County Emergency Services:

The next session of Haywood 4 Good, a community-wide wellness program, will begin on January 1, 2022. This innovative program encourages participants to engage in a variety of wellness activities over the course of six months. All activities may be completed safely at home or in an outdoor setting. Haywood County residents may participant at no cost.

Participants may register individually, however, teams are encouraged to provide motivation and accountability. Prizes will be awarded to participants and teams based on program participation.

Unlike traditional weight loss or heart health challenges, Haywood 4 Good expands to focus on the physical, mental, spiritual, and community wellness of program participants. Challenges include setting health goals, reducing screen time, and sleep.

Those interested may pre-register by visiting https://www.facebook.com/Haywood4Good/ and completing the sign-up information. Registration packets will be available at the entrances of Haywood County Health and Human Services Agency (Haywood HHSA) and at the Canton and Waynesville branches of the Haywood County Public Library beginning December 17, 2021. The final date to register is Monday, January 31, 2022.

“We are pleased to provide a comprehensive wellness program that is available to all county residents. We could all use a little extra support and motivation to take care of ourselves and others — we’re hopeful that Haywood 4 Good provides participants with that sense of community and support needed to make their health a priority. Similar programs are currently active in other western NC counties and participants have seen great success after completing the program!” said Megan Hauser, Public Health Education Supervisor.
